Tessa and Zoe an amazing job teaching Mrs. Agneta about Visualizing. They read the book Where the Wild Things Are and stopped to visualize along the way! Reading strategies are happening in room 119!
Wow...the first month of school flew by! I am happy to say we had a smooth transition. We spent many weeks setting up reading, math and writing workshop. The class now knows my expectations and we are off and ready to learn!
Here are the highlights of the next few weeks: Writing: Learning how to jot ideas in our Writer's Notebook. In a few weeks we will pick one of our ideas and start writing a Personal Narrative. Reading: What strategies do good readers use while reading? We will focus on visualizing, inferencing, predicting and making connections. Social Studies: Map making! We will learn all the key elements of making a map. A map project will be coming home soon! Science: Where do organisms live and how do environments change? Math: Number stories, elapsed time, bar graphs and rounding. Unit 1 is filled with different math concepts. At home it would be great if you practiced telling time and elapsed time. |
